Equality and Diversity

At Bears in the Park Pre-school we recognise the uniqueness of us all.

Our motto helps explain our philosophy; and highlights inclusion and (as outlined by the Early Years Foundation Stage) for celebrating our British Values; Democracy; The Rule of Law; Individual liberty; Mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.

We may all be different, but at Bears in the Park we all learn and play together.

We will welcome and encourage applications from all families, respecting the uniqueness of everyone at our setting.
We value and celebrate differences. We teach the children to understand the world in its myriad of beliefs, by listening to each other and by learning about other countries and communities through festivals, stories and traditions.

As part of the setting’s policy to make sure that its provision meets the needs of each individual child, we take account of any special needs a child may have. The setting works to the requirements of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice: 0 to 25 years, as updated in May 2015 (The document can be found online, but we also have a copy on site, if you would like to read it, please ask).

Throughout, we will work with other professionals and all the other agencies who are involved in children’s care e.g. the Early Years Development Team at the RBWM, numerous health professionals and Speech and Language Therapists.

We are able to support all Education and Health Care Plans by providing evidence and working closely with parents, others involved in a child’s care and the requisite professionals within the local authority.
Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Catherine KITCHING

We have a range of policies and procedures to help us deliver a high quality service.
The staff and parents need to work together to adopt the policies, which are usually reviewed annually. The review helps to make sure that the policies are relevant, up-to-date and enabling us to continue to provide a quality service for its members and the local community.
Printed copies of our policies and procedures are available for you to see at the setting [contained within our Policy Folder on our Information Table]. Copies can also be found on our website, if you would like a copy of a policy – please ask.
